Delilah releases through book dostributors on March 21, but there’s still time to pre-order your copy of Delilah here:
The later half of March will be busy, with the release of Delilah and a five day WordCrafter Book Blog Tour to get the word out, March 20 – 24.
The tour will include a fun interview where author Sara Wesley McBride chats with my character, Delilah, excerpts from the book, and posts about the historic female figures who will appear in each book in the Women in the West adventure series, and character profiles for the two characters which top-level Kickstarter backers Tim Ward and Carol Fowler have earned the privilage of naming in book 2 of the series, Sarah.

Kickstarter Progress Update
Until then, I will be busy signing and shipping the print copies of Delilah to mid- and top-level Kickstarter backers. I should be ready to continue working on Sarah in May, and I hope to have it ready to publish by the beginning of 2024. I also plan to work with a professional cover designer to smooth and improve my book covers. I want to thank everyone who supported me in this project, not only financially, but through sharing and networking it as well. All support was greatly appreciated. I couldn’t have done it without you.

Poetry Treasures 3: Passions
I’m also excited as the compilation of Poetry Treasures 3: Passions gets under way. We had some fabulous guests on “Treasuring Poetry” in 2022 and I’m looking forward to including their works in this very special collection. In addition to works by the series host, Robbie Cheadle, works by the following author/poets may be included: Penny Wilson, Judy Mastrangelo, Yvette Prior, Patty Fletcher, Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer, Willow, Yvette M. Calliero, Chris Hall, Abbie Taylor, and Smitha Vishwanath. I can’t wait to dig in to the poetry submitted for inclusion by these wonderful poets. Robbie and I are not very far into the process. In fact, I think we might still be waiting for all the submissions to get in. We had two previous anthologies, which both turned out quite well, and I’ve no doubt that this one will rival those.
You can still get a copy of these two wonderful anthologies from your favorite book distributors.

2023 Short Fiction Contest & Anthology
Submissions have begun to come in for the 2023 Short Fiction Contest, as well as stories submitted by invitation for the anthology. It’s much too soon to talk about the contest entries, but I can tell you that we have invitational submissions from Chris Barili, Joseph Carrabis, Michaele Jordan, D.L. Mullan and Stevie Turner, with promises from many others. It’s still very early in the process.
You can find submission guidelines and enter the 2023 WordCrafter Short Fiction Contest here.
You can get copies of last year’s WordCrafter Press anthologies: Once Upon an Ever After: Modern Myths & Fairy Tales; Refracted Reflections: Twisted Tales of Duality & Deception; and Visions. Available through your favorite book distributors.

Hi Karen, Thanks for pointing that out. I had intended to include that in the post, but I guess somehow it didn’t make it in. It is there now, thanks to you. 🙂 I will also include it here for you: https://writingtoberead.com/2023/01/09/2023-wordcrafter-short-fiction-contest-is-open-for-submissions/

Hi, Kaye and all. It just goes to show, practice and persistence pays off. I published my first book in 2014 and am getting ready to publish my fourth soon and am just now getting enough recognition to find myself in anthologies.
Not only am I in yours but not long ago I was approached to be in another.
This business we’re in is a hard one.
Thanks for brightening my day by helping me be a successful writer.

PS I cheer each time I get a statement saying a royalty payment has come in from the sale of a Visions book. It is not much but for me, itâs not about money, not that Iâd send any payments back or anything, but the real thrill is when I know someone has my work in their hands.
Keep up the awesome work.

I agree Patty. It does the heart good to know your work is being read. I want very much to be able to write full time and make a decent living, and it may come in time. I want to believe it’s just around the next bend, especially now that I have more time to.put into it. It was really heartening when the Kickstarter for Delilah funded, because that meant that all my supporters believed ine enough to support the project, and that was a fantastic feeling. 😁

Hi Kaye, I’ve managed to get two of my books recorded for the National Library Services for the Blind and Print Disabled talking book program and it is such a wonderous pleasure knowing I can reach people who may otherwise not be able to read my work.
Yes, we have Kindle and Audible, both of which make it accessible for persons with print disabilities but there are some who simply cannot use such technology for whatever reasons and knowing those people are able to sit down and read my story is totally amazing.
Yesterday afternoon, I went into a Zoom meeting and the facilitator did an impromptu interview. I didn’t go in there expecting such a thing, I was late and they were out of things to talk about or something and the facilitator said, “I’m gonna put you on the spot.”
It was exhilarating, awesome, embarrassing and terrifying all at once.
But several asked for my book info and when I logged off, I had a sense of real satisfaction.
Anyhow, didn’t mean to write so much, I’m blaming my hyper self on spring fever.
LOL.

Hi, I wish more indie authors would reach out to NLS to get their books placed there.
The thing I have seen from this is first, persons with print disabilities include a huge range of disabilities other than blindness.
Next, persons who use this service will go in search of other books by authors they like, knowing they may not all be available through this service which leads to book sales.
Also those persons will buy books they’ve read from NLS for their loved ones as gifts.
Lastly, word of mouth is huge. If they like a book they will talk about it and also write reviews.
Just something to think about as authors work toward getting their work out into the hands of millions of readers.

Thanks, souch for sharing the info. on this much overlooked outlet for book distribution, Patty. I’ll have to talk with you about doing a guest post to walk authors through the process, if you’re willing. Is it difficult to get your books in?

In answer to your question, the answer is yes and no.

Very good, I’ll gather all the information together, as it has been a bit since the publishing and recording of my last book.
Something to note, this is not something which will create any financial gain. Authors do not get paid for this.
I’ll be putting a post onto my blog later today called, “That all may read.” Watch for that. It will give the history of the program as well as much more information people should have about this program.
I’m still amazed that people do not know of this. I’m also amazed that people do not realize it is not only for blind persons. Print disabled can mean a lot of things. Dyslexia, color blindness unable to hold a book or turn a page, Etc.
Thanks, and talk soon.

Great Patty, It is information which I think many authors are lacking, including me. Itmay not bring monetary gain, but it does provide opportunity and help to get your books out there, just as libraries do. Many authors believe having your books in libraries hurts sales because people can read them for free, but it is actually the opposite. Libraries pay for each copy, and often, each checkout, and they give your books exposure. Readers who find your books in libraries and like them, may then search out your other works for purchase. By doing what you are doing, you are reaching a whole new audience of readers who otherwise would not have been reached, and many of them will buy your books! So there may be monetary gain, but it’s not direct. I look forward to your post. 🙂

Well, this is a library it’s just a library for the blind and print disabled. We have access to braille audio and large print materials. There are thousands and thousands of books there both of mine are there and I’m trying to get my third one there and I hope to get the one that I am working on now there I want them all there lol anyway, you have a super Duper day. PS I tagged you in a post on Facebook so that you can see the article about the whole program and how it began, etc..

Hi Kay, Thank you for your kind thoughts. I am planning a tour for the week of distributor release, and I would be pleased to add you to the list of hosts for that tour.
The poetry anthology usually features the “Treasuring Poetry” blog series guests from the previous year, but submissions are open for the short fiction contest until April 30, and I look forward to receiving your entry, 🙂
