How to perform the Basket Exercise for those who are visually impaired:
As students who are absent from the class when I bring in a basket filled with many buttons, including campaign buttons, feathers, clothes buttons, jewelry, tiny statues, a rosery, Christian cross (both with or without Jesus), and other objects, you need not view these objects to perform the exercise. Instead, select an item you have at home and write about using your other five senses: hearing (you might drop it on your desk to create a sound), smell, taste (if it’s your personal object, feel free to slip it onto your tongue, and touch.
Thus, please feel free to participate in this exercise, too. The main idea is to have fun while you write detailed sensual descriptions. Enjoy!
