    The sea has been the most incredible shades of blue with our heat wave and of course the sea reflects the sky, but is the sky really blue?

    Such beautiful blues.

    And in reply to the previous commentor, skies look blue because the atmosphere scatters the short wavelength blues more than the other colours in the sun’s spectrum. Violet is also scattered, but there is less of it in the sun’s emissions. And our eyes are more sensitive to blue than violet.

      Hi Viv,

      I know all that, but sometimes it’s nice to just enjoy the blue and imagine it’s just magically there. I can remember when I was a girl and wed pick up my great-grandma for Sunday dinner. It was a bit of a distance, so she and I would stare up at the sky while my grandfather drove and found the shapes in the clouds floating across the blue. It’s one of my dearest memories. 😊
