Other Worlds
Through this door lies another world.
You can almost see it through the glass.
But once you step through to the other side
there is no turning back.
No telling what awaits you there.
You may find a princess in a castle in the sand
Or you might find Egyptian pyramids or,
a deep dark forest laying gloom upon the land.
Are you prepared to venture through those doors?
Are you brave enough to look?
You can get a little sample
by opening your favorit book.
This is my first time participating in Dan Antion’s Thursday Doors writing challenge. I hope I did it right.

Perfect Kaye!
I like this poem, a lot. You see a door like that, and you can’t help but wonder. You captured that feeling so well. Thanks for joining us.

I’ve been meaning to join on the Thursday Doors for awhile. Since my laptop is down I thought this writing challenge the perfect opportunity to get my feet wet. I’ve enjoyed several of Robbie’s responses and it looked like a lot of fun. Thanks. ☺️

This is a wonderful take, Kaye Lynne.
Whatever you were thinking, I must tell you that behind those doors lies a lot of history, and therefore other worlds.
The building was renovated in 2005, to its former glory. It was built in 1922, as a Big Band dance hall to grace Sunnyside, which was a sort of Disneyland before Disneyland. It was a #1 travellers’ destination.
Sunnyside boasted the world’s largest roller coaster at the time (made of wood), and its gorgeous vintage carousel now lives in an amusement park in California, and so much more.
A suspicious fire in the 1950’s (not the first one, but the 3rd or 4th) finally closed Sunnyside and the expressway Toronto needed so badly was finally underway.
The Palais hosted some of the biggest stars of the Big Band Jazz and Swing era.
Boy, I sure can gab! I’ll be doing an en masse reblog soon(ish) of all the posts inspired by my doors pics.
Thank you for this clever write!

It was my pleasure, Resa. It is a wonderful image and I wasn’t sure when I sat down to write, what would result. I just let myself be lost in the image for awhile. ☺️
